Young lovers Hero and Claudio are to be married in one week. To pass the time, they conspire with Don Pedro to set a "lover's trap" for Benedick, an arrogant confirmed bachelor, and Beatrice, his favorite sparring partner. Meanwhile, the evil Don Jon conspires to break up the wedding by accusing Hero of infidelity. In the end, though, it all turns out to be "much ado about nothing."

Through comic cross-casting Cloud Nine (1979) leads its audience on a romping excursion through the colonial Victorian era. Caryl Churchill pokes fun at the foibles of class economics and gender roles in this fun, antic play.

Around the World with Mulan and Aladdin - A Holiday Magic Carpet Ride

Come along with Mulan and Aladdin as they discover children celebrating the holiday season around the globe. Folktales and myths reveal the essential holiday spirits of compassion, kindness and gratitude. The stops along the way might take us to Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America. You will meet talking and singing animals, creepy villains, and brave warriors. This community collaborative will feature a multitude of performers of all ages, talents and colors. This celebration of the Season promises to reawaken the laughter and silliness in young and old alike.

At the concerts, CSUEB's Dance Faculty will present new works created with advanced students and professional dancers from around the Bay Area. The concerts will encompass diverse styles of dance and dance/theatre, as well as provide a thought-provoking and entertaining evening celebrating movement, community expression and the body.
The Festival is a one-of-a-kind event celebrating dance and dance education throughout Northern California. Join the CSUEB Dance Faculty, and students from across the region for a dynamic dance covergence.
Urinetown, The Musical

The award-winning Broadway smash Urinetown, is a parody of socially conscious musicals. It pokes fun at government and idealism, love and heroism. It also satirizing musicals like "West Side Story," "Fiddler on the Roof," and "Les Miz." There is a cast of 16, many of whom play multiple roles (rich and poor). The show is irresistably funny and a tongue in cheek homage to the musical itself.

Bilbo is asked to leave his large, roomy and very dry home in the ground to attempt, as chief robber, to recover an important treasure. It’s the last thing that any sensitive Hobbit would want to do, but great benefit eventually results – not only for Bilbo, but for all the Hobbits of Middle Earth – and the hearts of those children and adults who continue to enjoy this kind of magic.
