                      ANNOUNCING FALL AUDITIONS!

         FOR DEPT. OF THEATRE AND DANCE 2008-2009

 

Auditions will be Wed., October 1

Dance Auditions 6-8pm

Acting/Singing Auditions 8-10pm

 

Call Backs are Thurs., Oct. 2

Dance Call backs/Auditions 6-8pm

Acting/Singing Call backs 8-10pm

 

Prepare one monologue approximately one minute under 2 minutes for Acting auditions

Dance auditions will be to a choreographed combination

 

For “Sophisticated Ladies” singers prepare one Duke Ellington song, either up-tempo or

ballad and bring sheet music in the appropriate key. Accompanist will be provided.

 

PRODUCTIONS:

SOLO/TONGUES

Directed by Ann Fajilan and Choreographed by Eric Kupers
SOLO: This showcase features original solo performance (storytelling, political/socio

rants, life story and intimate secrets).  All types are encouraged to audition. This will be

paired with TONGUES  by Sam Shepard,  and Choreographed by Eric Kupers,  a transformational/environmental piece.  

Performs Nov. 14, 15, 21, 22, 2008 at 8 p.m., Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. University Theatre

 

PAN AND WENDY

Written and directed by Seth Thygeson; Supervised by Marc Jacobs

A brand new retelling of the classic Peter Pan story. The large cast includes Peter, the

Darling Family, the Lost Boys, Captain Hook and Pirates, Tiger Lily and the Crocodile.

“Mary” and “Wendy” need to sing and some characters have British accents.
Performs Dec. 12 and 13, 2008 at 7 p.m., Dec 13 at 3 p.m. Also Dec. 15-18 at 9:30 and

11am for students.

SOPHISTICATED LADIES

Directed by Darryl V. Jones, Choreographed by Laura Ellis

A Co-Production with the Music Department's Jazz Program under the direction of

Professor Johannes Wallman
A celebration of Jazz royalty, this Duke Ellington musical review is loaded with classic

songs like “Take the A Train,” “Satin Doll,” “Mood Indigo” and more. Dancing is in the

great Tap and Jazz tradition of Catherine Dunham and Alvin Ailey.

Performs March 6, 7, 13, 14, 2009 at 8 p.m., March 8 and 15 at 2 p.m.
University Theatre

Dance callbacks will be Friday, October 10 from 6-8. Callbacks for singers
and actors is Thursday, Oct. 9 from 7-9.

 THE GIVER 

Written by Lois Lowry. Adapted by Eric Coble

Directed by Ann Fajilan
A cautionary futuristic tale warning of  the demise of humanity---
One mature person (60  plus)-Wisdom and Keeper of Secrets
One young person (12-28) ---Apprentice to the Keeper
Six older couples (20-50)
Ten younger persons (16-30)
One bright female youth (6-12)
Rehearses in Winter Quarter.2009

Performs early May, 2009 (Dates TBA) for both Adult and Student performances.

THE IAGO PROJECT

Directed by Marc Jacobs & Choreographed by Nina Haft

This is an original play by Marc Jacobs about domestic abuse in the military. The

theatre- dance piece explores the relationship between Iago and Emilia in Shakespeare’s

Othello and compares it to the murder of 4 military wives in Fort Bragg by their soldier

husbands who had recently returned from active duty in Iraq.

This will be a developmental workshop during the Spring 2009 quarter, with the production planned for Fall 2009.

5 men, 5 women plus Dancers.
