Program Description

Choose the program that is appropriate for your catalog year:

• For catalogs prior to 2005-2006

• For catalogs 2005-2006 and beyond - Under the new undergraduate Philosophy Major, students take required and elective classes in the Core. They also choose from one of the following Options, each of which has its own set of required and elective classes:

  • Classical Philosophy Option
  • Law, Human Rights and Social Justice Option
  • Religious Studies Option
  • Science, Technology and Values Option
  • Special Option

  The Philosophy Major requires a total of 60 units.

  The Philosophy Department offers two minors: a Philosophy Minor and a Cognitive Science Minor. Liberal Studies majors may complete a Philosophy Option.
