University Bands

The University Band Program is recognized for innovative programming and superb musicianship in performance.  During the past several years, over thirty new works for wind band, composed by CSUEB faculty, students, and alumni have received their premiere performances.  The University Symphonic Band has performed at the College Band Directors National Association Western/Northwestern Division Conference, the California Music Educators Association State Conference, the CMEA Bay Section Conference, and as a featured ensemble at the California Band Directors Association Conference and the Western States Collegiate Wind Band Festival. 

The Symphonic Band is the core concert band ensemble of CSUEB and is open to all university students (majors and non-majors) by audition. 

The Wind Ensemble and Chamber Winds are select "pools" of players from the Symphonic Band that perform works specifically for those ensembles, usually one-per-part orchestral wind instrumentation.  Personnel for the Wind Ensemble and Chamber Winds ensembles is chosen by the Director of Bands.
