Jeffrey Miller studied at San Francisco State University, the University of Southampton, England, and the Graduate School of the City University of New York, where he received his Ph.D. in composition. Before coming to Cal State East Bay, he taught at Brooklyn College, Knox College, and the Canberra (Australia) School of Music. His music, which includes works for orchestra, band, chamber ensembles, voice, and solo instruments, has been performed throughout the United States and he has received commissions from the Irving M. Klein String Competition, Musicians' Accord, and the Nova Singers. Dr. Miller has received grants and awards from the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Meet the Composer, the Lilly Endowment, and the American Choral Directors Association, and has held artists' colony residencies at the Ragdale Foundation and Villa Montalvo. Jeffrey Miller is also a Co-Artistic Director and the Executive Director of the prominent Bay Area new music presenter Composers, Inc.
