2nd CSUEB Student Composers Choral Competition

Guidelines for Composition Submissions:
1. Must be written for SATB choir with no section dividing into more than two parts at any given time. Vocal solos are welcome: soloists will be drawn from the East Bay Singers.
2. Must be written for unaccompanied voices.
3. Must be less than 5 minutes in performance length
4. Rights to use the text MUST be secured (when applicable) in advance of submission and proof of such produced upon request.
5. Translations must be included with the use of any foreign text.
6. Score must exhibit a professional level of presentation in notation and reproduction. Illegible scores will be rejected outright.
7. Composer must be enrolled for BOTH Winter 2009 and Spring 2009 quarters to be considered.

Submissions must include the following:
1. One copy of a sheet of paper indicating name, 100-word (maximum) biography, email address, telephone number, the name of the work(s) submitted, and the duration of the work(s).
2. 5 copies of the score with CLEARLY MARKED TITLE, BUT NO COMPOSER NAME. Each score may be accompanied by a separate CD recording (if available), but the recording must be clearly labeled with the TITLE of the work only (NO COMPOSER NAME).

Deadlines:
To be considered, all application materials MUST be submitted to the Music Department Office: Attention Dr. Buddy James and delivered to Mariko Abe in the Music Department office (MB2571) by 5 p.m. on February 13, 2009. Applications that are incomplete or do not follow the guidelines will not be accepted. Finalists will be announced by March 2, 2009. Winners will be announced by March 16, 2009.
