MISSION
|
|
The mission of the Journal of Filipino Studies is to publish research, theories, real world applications and literary contributions on the global Filipino experience. The Journal envisions to bridge the gap between scholarship and practice, and to encourage critical thinking and discourse on contemporary issues and paradigms that influence the lives of Filipinos worldwide.
|
|
Materials published in the Journal include Filipino studies in various social, cultural, economic and political contexts employing methodological approaches. In addition, literary genres such as poetry in English and Filipino languages will be published.
|
|
As a vital resource for learning in a digital, knowledge-based and environmentally conscious society, the Journal is electronic and fully online. An interactive feedback system is an element of the Journal in order to encourage conversations between and among contributors, readers and editors.

|
AUDIENCE
|
|
The audience for the Journal of Filipino Studies includes scholars, academicians, students, political and business leaders, managers, administrators, and other individuals who seek to further their understanding and appreciation of Filipino studies. The Journal encourages contributions from the public and private sectors, from the Philippines and the Filipino diaspora. Moreover, the Journal provides a voice for the youth with a section devoted to their contributions.

CALL FOR PAPERS
|
|
The Center for Filipino Studies at California State University, East Bay, seeks articles on the topic of Filipino studies for possible publication in the Journal of Filipino Studies. The Journal will consider a wide range of papers from many disciplines, including but not limited, to the following:

- Business and Economics
- Education
- Creative Arts
- Health Care
- Humanities
- Social Sciences
- Technology
|
|
Research studies submitted will undergo a blind review process by outside, independent reviewers.
|
|
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
|
|
Submissions must be original work that is not under consideration by other publication. To be considered for publication, submissions must demonstrate focused inquiry intended to forward the conversation
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
regarding Filipino studies applying analytical approaches including quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Other than reviews of scholarly literature, synoptic and summative papers are not appropriate for this journal.
|
|
|
|
FORMAT
|
|
For research studies, type all copy double-spaced using a font size no smaller than 12pt., including references and extracts. Margins should be at least one inch wide. The title page should include the title of the article, and the full names of the author or authors, as well as their affiliations, full addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses. The author(s)’ names should not appear anywhere else on the manuscript. The first page needs to have a brief abstract of approximately 300 words. The succeeding sections need to include a statement of background and purpose, followed by methods, discussion or analysis, and end with findings and conclusions. This order may change depending on the nature of the submission. Do not use footnotes. Provide a double-spaced alphabetized list of references cited in the text, using American Psychological Association (APA) publication style, which is the new standard for scholarly research papers. Authors must ensure the accuracy of all statements (particularly data, quotations and references) before submitting manuscripts.

If written in Filipino language/dialects, include English translation.

The Editorial Board reserves the prerogative to copyedit or request the author (s) to edit a contribution for publication. Copyedited manuscripts will not be returned to authors. The views expressed by the author (s) many not necessarily be the views of the Editorial Board or the Center for Filipino Studies.
