VISION

To be a premier institution for teaching, research, publication and community outreach on the global Filipino experience.  The Center is further envisioned to be a major institution for the development and dissemination of knowledge concerning Filipino Studies in the United States and other areas of the Filipino diaspora.

The Center for Filipino Studies was founded in 1992 with a charter from California State University, East Bay.  The aim was to support the University’s vision to “provide an academically-rich, multicultural learning experience that prepares all of its students to realize their goals, pursue meaningful lifework, and to be socially responsible contributors to their communities, locally and globally.”

STRATEGIC PLAN

The Strategic Plan provides the short term and long-range direction, programs and policies of the Center for Filipino Studies.  This is an evolving plan which will be periodically reviewed and adapted to the changing demands of the Twenty First Century.  Three questions guide the strategic plan of CFS:

  • Where are we now?
  • Where do we want to be?
  • How do we get there?
