Find yourself in Ethnic Studies
The Department of Ethnic Studies offers courses and programs that allow students to examine issues related to ethnic and gender identity. We offer a major, minors, and courses that are interdisciplinary in nature, providing a holistic approach to the study of the United States' multi-racial, multicultural, and multigender society. The department's faculty integrate social science and literary theory, as well as anthropological and sociological concepts within a transnational, historical, and humanistic perspective. The goal of Ethnic Studies is to provide a better understanding of diversity in American culture and thought.
The Ethnic Studies major consists of a core of Ethnic Studies courses, support courses in other departments in the university, and Options in African American Studies, Asian American Studies, Latino/a Studies, Native American Studies, and Genders and Sexualities in Communities of Color.
Students of all backgrounds will find themselves represented in our curriculum. Ethnic Studies is for everyone!
