MEMORIAL CONTEST


DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS
FRIDAY, MAY 5, 2000.

Manuscripts are now being accepted for the 15th annual Robert V. Williams Memorial Contest for short fiction by students. Submissions will be taken at the English Office, WA UM91.

First Prize: $100. Second Prize: $75. Third Prize: $50
Plus! publication in Occam's Razor*, Fall '00.

GUIDELINES AND RULES:
1. You must be /have been enrolled as a student during the academic year 1999 - 00 (fall, winter, or spring).
2. You must have taken (or be enrolled in now) at least one of the fiction, creative nonfiction or poetry workshops at CSUEB (EN 2070, 3070, 3071, 3075, 3090, 4070, etc.)
3. Submit three copies of your story.
4. All stories must be clearly typed or printed (laser or near-letter-quality dot-matrix), double-spaced, on standard size white paper.
5. Your name must not appear anywhere on the ms. Attach a cover sheet with the story's title, your name, address and phone number.
6. Previously published stories (or those accepted for publication) are not eligible. Exceptions: stories that have appeared in Occam's Razor or other CSUEB publications are eligible.
7. Length: we're not hard-liners, but submissions of more than about 20 pp. are not actively encouraged.

Contest entries will be screened by a local writer or editor, who will select 8 - 12 finalists. The primary judge (a professional writer from outside the CSUEB community) will select the winners from among the finalists.
