Literary Studies and Composition
Graduate seminars in all areas of American and British literature, literary studies, literary theory, and the theory and teaching of composition are offered regularly, one evening a week. While the traditional canon of British and American writers forms the basis of the curriculum, the program also offers courses that reflect the rich diversity of American literature and postcolonial writing in the British tradition.

Creative Writing
Building a program which includes advanced workshops in fiction and poetry, along with the standard literary studies, the Department fosters a dynamic community of creative writers. The Department's literary journal, Occam's Razor, provides a showcase for the talents of many of our creative writers, and students are welcome to participate in the production of this publication. While the program does not offer a separate degree in creative writing, students may choose to write a thesis in fiction, poetry, or creative non-fiction.

TESOL

The TESOL program is at once practical and theoretical, preparing professionally-competent instructors, curriculum designers, coordinators, researchers, and teacher trainers at high schools, universities, public and private adult education programs, and company language training programs in the United States and abroad. For further information on the TESOL option, please contact Marilyn Silva, Interim TESOL Coordinator.
