
Distinguished Lecture in Communicative Sciences
and Disorders-2007
Honoring Norma S. Rees, President and Professor Emerita, CSUEB.
The Distinguished Lecture
series in Communicative Sciences and Disorders was inaugurated
by the Department faculty in 2003. The purpose of the series is
to bring to the campus annually a distinguished researchers or
clinicians in communicative sciences or disorders. Each year the
lecture honors former or current members of the faculty or professional
staff, who have made significant contributions to the Department.
This year the lecture honored Norma S. Rees, Past President of
the University and Professor Emerita in the Department of Communicative
Sciences and Disorders. The Distinguished Speakers were Robert
Peyton, Ph.D., former Special Assistant to the President, CSUEB,
who presented the "Keynote Address"; Deena Bernstein,
Ph.D., Chair, Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences, Lehman College,
City College of New York, who spoke on "From Language
to Literacy: We've Come A Long Way"; and Daniel Boone,
Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, Speech and Hearing Sciences, The University
of Arizona, whose topic was "Aural-Oral Communication
Changes in Aging". The proceedings were hosted by William
Rosenthal, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, Communicative Sciences and
Disorders, CSUEB, who introduced the speakers.
