Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential
The Speech Pathology and Audiology faculty in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders have developed a program of graduate study designed to fulfill the requirements for the Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential. This credential is required for employment in the public schools, and the department encourages applicants to the Master of Science degree program to select this credential objective.
Individuals wishing to obtain this credential must meet all requirements of the Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology, including an internship in the public schools (SPPA 6066 for 6 units), a 4-unit, advisor approved course in Educational Psychology (ESPY 5021), and a passing score on the CBEST.
The Department and the university's Credential Student Service Center, located within the College of Education and Allied Studies, work together to assist students in understanding and completing credential requirements. Each admitted student should consult with their department advisor regarding the credential requirements as they pursue the Master of Science degree. The credential objective can be added to the Master's Degree objective at nearly any time during the student's academic career if it was not initially selected.
More information on the credential is available at the following website through the California Commission on Teacher Credentialling.
