Chicken

Although chicken had been important in China since ancient times, especially for religious reasons, during the nineteenth century it was not an everyday source of protein. In contrast, at Yema-po the use of chicken meat was significant; a minimum of 55 chickens (424 fragments, 368.2 grams) were discovered in the Yema-po excavations.
